#my one and only thg post #also #you know what did kill prim?#love triangles #and narrative cul-de-sacs #prim died so that the continuing tradition of choosing between POTENTIAL LIVES #being conveyed to the audience as choosing between potential LOVE INTERESTS #could be continued #which considering she’s the whole reason Katniss volunteered #and fought #and fought AGAIN rather than running away #is COMPLETELY FUCKED UP #yes I was angry about this #a series supposedly about female agency #(that was then NOT ABOUT FEMALE AGENCY) #killed one of the most important female characters in it #TO RESOLVE AN UNNECESSARY LOVE TRIANGLE

#perfect tags #that's really the crux of why THG bugged me so much in the end #narratively there is never the option for katniss to pick neither guy #because peeta and gale became stand-ins for the different lives she could have #and even the choice between how rebellion and revolution should and shouldn't be #collins conflates that triangle with the whole moral of the tale and then she kills prim which completely robs katniss of even THAT choice #so manipulative #so lazy #the hunger games #not cool not cool #*pours out a 40 for the ace heroine katniss was never allowed to be*
