SPOILER ALERT: SHE CAN IN FACT DO THIS

He read The Lord of the Rings for what I’m estimating the millionth time, one of his greatest loves and comforts since he’d first discovered it, back when he was nine and lost and lonely and his favourite librarian had said, Here try this, and with one suggestion changed his life. Got through almost the whole trilogy, but then the line “and out of Far Harad black men like half-trolls” and he had to stop, his head and his heart hurting too much.

The choice of subject became easy when I realized I only have one female tattooed on my body. San is the female lead in Hayao Miyazaki’s animated film Princess Mononoke. I’ve always been a sucker for a woman who was raised by wolves, figuratively and in this case quite literally.

I’m very happy to have been able to be part of this exhibition with over 100+ other great artists. Opening reception is Dec. 7th in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Special thanks to Lindsay Nohl and the people at Light Grey for organizing this.
