The apocalypse is visted upon her every weekend, over and over again.

SPOILERS OK

Why I like them: I don’t even know how to describe Anthy. She’s SO COMPLICATED. There’s the carefully-crafted image she presents to the world, there’s the person other people think she is (which differs depending on the person), and there’s the person she really is…which makes her the most human out of all of the characters. and her arc is just PRECIOUS to me, the way it slowly unravels and the beautiful way it ends. At first she seems like a total passive, a total damsel but not only is she one of the main players with a subtle insidious agency of her own, SHE’S the revolutionary girl in the end, the one who grows and finds strength against unbelievable suffering. She’s the one who dismantles the whole game through her own found courage and faith.

Why I don’t: I don’t actually dislike her for any of this, but she does malicious, manipulative, spiteful things — and not just for Akio, but because of her own deep-seated resentment and because of the extent of her abuse.

Favorite episode/scene: when she leaves the school, obvs that’s the top of the list.

Favorite line: “by all means, stay in this cozy coffin of yours” and every word after that

Favorite outfit: her rose bride dress (look i am a sucker for the visual of Utena dipping her and pulling out that sword, i could watch it over and over), also her outfit in the finale because obviously

OTP: Utena/Anthy, all day long

Non-Romantic OTP: There is no one else I even want around Anthy tbh, in any capacity. They were all shitty/creepy/abusive to her, and let’s be honest there’s no one else SHE would want around her either. Because she genuinely hates everyone. Because I love her. the end.

Headcanon: She and Utena are happy together forever, lalalalala, also she burns the uniform.

Unpopular opinion: I dunno, do people not realise she’s the heroine? because I feel like fandom probably didn’t realise that, because I’ve been in fandoms before.

A Wish for them: To find Utena, to find her prince. I LOVE the reversal of roles here, btdubs.

5 words to best describe them: self-sacrificing, passive-aggressive, brave, mysterious, hurting

Girls are all Rose Brides, in the end.

Revolutionary Girl Utena left a huge impact on me, not only because of its messages and themes, but also in how they were conveyed. Amazing stuff.
