YOU ARE AN ANIMATED CHARACTER. WHY IS THERE SO MUCH EMOTION ON YOUR FACE. WHY IS THERE SO MUCH EMOTION ON MY FACE WATCHING YOU.
Ugh, the one part that always makes me weep. I think it was freaking brilliant to not even give the King and Queen speaking lines because they don’t even need to.
I don’t fully agree that it was the right thing not to give the Queen and King any speaking lines in the film, but THEIR FACES. SOLD EVERY EMOTION. When we first saw them after the prologue, aka this scene, I became a ball of emotion in my seat because of their faces. How devastated the King still clearly is over the loss of his daughter. The quiet strength radiating from the Queen as cups his cheek. The pain in both their eyes. I love this little moment between them and how we’re not just given scenes of the adventure Rapunzel takes in order to follow her dream slash find herself, but we’re also given this scene were we see just how much Mother Gothel’s actions devastated this family and how much the King and Queen are still affected by it.
TANGLED GIVES ME SO MANY FEELINGS. ESPECIALLY THESE TWO. Also, the end when the Queen pulls Eugene into the group hug. EMOTIONS.
God, the animation in Tangled, and just how human everyone looks with their freaking FACES, is an experience in itself. I have spent many minutes rewinding Rapunzel’s facial expressions and little movements just to look at them again, and I think one of my fave scenes is at the end when she pounces on Eugene because of just how their bodies flow into each other and her hair swings and Gene’s face goes soft and there are all these like intricate movements and animations and it’s perfect.
which has nothing to do with this particular scene except that this scene moved me in a similar way because it’s so. SO. REAL. idk. HIS FACE AND HER FACE.
Disney films are usually complicated for me and I sort of resented what-all went down with Mother Gothel/evil stepmother, but I really do love this movie so much.
